Pros

It works well in all situations and its sturdy construction materials, excellent resolution,  and great portability makes it a really good value for the money.The very precise autofocus and the continuous shooting of 6.5 fps make it a nice camera even for action shots,  with a RAW buffer limit that is good enough for this kinds of products.

Compared to cameras of other brands, (which in Liveview uses contrast detection), the Canon Dual Pixel is simply unbeatable, in video and also in photo mode.

If you are accustomed to another autofocus system, you will notice instantly its greater speed and accuracy, especially in low light situations and moving objects.

Another highlight is the constructive quality of this camera and the effort that Canon ha made to protect the sensitive parts of it, that is, those most exposed to dust and moisture.

Verdict

When we finished the Canon EOS 6D Mark II Digital SLR Camera Review, we remained with the sensation that the camera is a solvent camera, well built, with a new design that really improves in all aspects to its predecessor. Beyond that, we felt that in comparison to other similar models available in the market, the EOS 6D Mark II has nothing to envy. Even so, the camera is an excellent option for someone who has a Canon APS-C body with a full-frame sensor and some lenses. The product also fits very well for people that want to start in photography with a good camera.

Design Of The Camera

We were not expecting many variations in terms of aesthetics, but the surprise came with the screen, which completely changed the design of the former model, and the way that the image looks.

In other aspects the Canon 6D Mark II didn’t change too much compare with the 5D.From the right you can see the section that protects the slot for the SD card and on the left that of the USB and  mini HDMI connections.

We don’t see any modifications in the design of the layout of the grip and buttons beyond the subtle lines that update a little the aspect of the camera, but users of the previous model will get used to it in no time.

The Canon 6D Mark II supports E-TTL II with Speedlites EX series flashes, and does not have a retractable flash, and the good news is that the product give us the alternative of using several models wireless flashes.

Considering that this camera, according to Canon, is not a professional one and the emphasis is to attract a keen audience, we should not ask for too many sophisticated features. Canon surely had to face criticism due that the high expectations that the quality of the 5D model have created.

We found the level of dynamic range of the EOS 6D Mark II somewhat disconcerting, although we are accustomed to more than acceptable steps in APS-C models, this model gave us the feeling of not getting good results in this regard. Unfortunately, despite having updated our editing programs to do some proof about it, it is still too early to realize the performance of the raw.

Video Performance

The video function is not the strongest point of the Canon EOS 6D Mark II. In this camera, as always when we talk about Canon, the video level of the images is excellent, and certainly the Dual Pixel AF system is also very useful at this time, allowing subjects to easily be followed. However, one of the disadvantages is the lack of the 4k format, and the other is that although it comes with an internal microphone and the possibility of external connection, the connection of headphones is not possible.

Connectivity And Bluetooth

In this model Canon has added to the WiFi connection and the integrated GPS that the previous model already had, the new EOS 6D Mark II Bluetooth and NFC connections that will facilitate pairing and keep the connection active with mobile devices without overusing the battery.

The focus points in this new model are one of the elements that have been most updated, and for example the viewfinder has 45 AF cross-type AF points with targets f / 5.6. up to f / 8 only 27 of the 45 points work, and only 9 with a central cross.
Its combination with the Dual Pixel AF of Canon give a fast and precise result,although at times when the light decreases it is preferable to switch to automatic mode.
On the LCD (Liveview) the camera has a maximum of 63 AF points that are managed through the DUAL PIXEL system.
On the screen and in the viewer we can select the area and the points we want to use. We will have to do it with the selection buttons ,since in this model as in the previous design it does not include wheels or joysticks.

Opinion 1:

I purchased a Canon 6D body a couple of years ago to backup my Canon 5D Mark III body. It was a purchase that I made to use it in case that my primary camera has a problem while covering an event. Eventually I started to take it with me on holidays, trips, and other kinds of happenings. Using the less expensive camera for private activities in life just seemed more logic. I wondered why take the risk with my 5D Mark III when I could bring the cheaper Canon 6D?

Later I realize that the image quality of the 6d was awesome, dynamic range was acceptable, and ISO performance was not so different than the 5D Mark III. So I decided to change my old camera body for an extra EOS 6D Mark ll, and as a result I have some cash left and I am happy with my new product.

Opinion 2:

Talking with friends I used to ask them if it really worth to upgrade my photographic equipment. At last I decided to buy the EOS 6D, and now I am absolutely sure that was the right decision. My new camera has the articulating screen that is a game changer and the low light capabilities are absolutely great.  I would 100% recommend it. The more I use it, the more I love it.

Opinion 3:

I’ve had it for about a week, and I can tell you right now that I absolutely love it. The Dynamic range isn’t an issue for me. Anyways, I generally shoot nightlife with my old camera, but I didn’t like it so much when doing day shoots or photos. Then I discover the 6D Mark ii and was in love with it from the beginning. Even in hard low light situations worked well. The ability to switch in between photos and video without having to adjust settings is one of the main reasons why I love it, and then their skin tones are out of the world. 5 stars for this great camera.

We think that this model of Canon tries to compete with mirrorless cameras, and if that is the objective, we believe are on the right track. It is a very balanced camera, although it lacks the versatility that gives you a nice video capability due to non existence  of 4K.  Another issue is that although the interface is the same as the rest of the models, a user who is not accustomed to the Canon menus can get disoriented when using the interval meter by wanting to deactivate the focus priority that prevents shooting if there is no focus or when wanting to use the tracking of an object with the focus.

SLR lovers have an exciting camera in this model that provides crisp, high-quality images. It is not a frustrating  camera that without professional pretensions will match the expectations of enthusiastic photographers who seek more quality than the APS-C.
